Little Darner Sampler by Haystack Stitching

A Victorian Darning Sampler, C.1870 from Feller Collection

We believe this to be a teaching piece as the loops of the darning sections have been left on the front where there would typically be on the reverse.  The darning sampler was framed upside down probably because the lettering can be read both ways.  This is worked in by cotton and silk thread.
